Dallas pianist to compete virtually in finals of international competition

Coming up this weekend, Irene Longacre Whiteside will take part as a finalist in a prestigious international piano competition - and she won't have to leave the comfort of her home in Dallas.

Whiteside is among five finalists in her division of Pianolink, which is held in Italy and brings together the world's most talented amateur pianists.  Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, Whiteside is unable to be in Italy for the competition, so she will perform virtually.  Early Saturday morning, wearing a fine ballgown, Whiteside will slip behind the keys of her own piano in her own home in North Texas and go for a world title.  She also was chosen as a finalist for the next Van Cliburn amateur competition scheduled for 2022.
