A man is in jail in Dallas where police busted up an operation making fake temporary dealer paper license plates.

Dallas Police Detectives got a tip and set up an undercover purchase of a fake paper tag at an address on Sunnyvale Street near Overton in South Oak Cliff.

Springing the trap, police arrested a male suspect identified as Wayland Wright on a charge of Tampering with a Governmental Record with the Intent to Defraud.

Police say Wright confessed to printing a lot of the fraudulent paper tags. They confiscated $3,000 in cash along with computers and printers.

Wright is being held in the Dallas County jail on a $15,000 bond.

Official say criminals often use these fake temporary paper tags for misdemeanors like avoiding toll tag readers, not having proper vehicle registrations and/or state-mandated auto insurance. And some for far more serious crimes, including human trafficking and drug running.
