A man arrested after a shooting call in Dallas died Sunday night after suffering a medical emergency while in jail.
Officers responded to a call on South Hampton Road, where a suspect had allegedly tried to enter a home. Police say one shot was fired before officers arrived.
The male suspect was arrested for criminal mischief and taken by Dallas Fire-Rescue to a hospital for a superficial injury. After treatment, he was booked into the Lew Sterrett Jail, where he later suffered a medical emergency. Police say he was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The Dallas County DA's Office and the Office of Community Police Oversight were notified and will review the case.
