A Dallas police lieutenant is on administrative leave after being arrested Wednesday on a driving while intoxicated charge in Midlothian, according to law enforcement officials.
The arrest was made by the Midlothian Police Department, and Dallas police say the case is now under internal review.
Authorities have not released additional details about the traffic stop or the circumstances leading to the arrest. The lieutenant was taken into custody and later released, pending the outcome of the case.
The Dallas Police Department confirmed the officer has been with the department since 2008. Officials say standard procedures are being followed while the legal process plays out, including an administrative review separate from the criminal case.
No further information has been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
