A Texas parole supervisor has been fired after posting inflammatory comments on Facebook about the high-profile murder case involving Karmelo Anthony.
Donna Robinson, who identified herself online as a parole supervisor with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, made the remarks following Anthony’s sentencing earlier this week in Collin County. Anthony, 19, received 35 years in prison after a jury convicted him of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf by stabbing him once in the chest during a Frisco high school track meet in April 2025.
In her now-viral Facebook comment, Robinson wrote that Anthony would likely be protected in prison and expressed indifference to the victim’s family. She stated she was glad they did not have to bury another Black child and suggested it was time for others to experience similar loss, ending with profanity. The post quickly drew widespread outrage online.
TDCJ confirmed Robinson’s termination on Friday after reviewing her public statements. A department spokeswoman said in a statement that employment with the agency carries significant public trust and requires decisions free from personal bias. “These statements are incompatible with TDCJ policy and values,” the spokeswoman added. “They demonstrate bias and a lack of the impartiality essential to the fair administration of justice in Texas. Discriminatory or inflammatory conduct that erodes public confidence in the criminal justice system will not be tolerated.”
The case has drawn intense public attention in North Texas and beyond. Metcalf, a student at Memorial High School, was killed at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco during a rainy meet when athletes from different schools sought shelter. Anthony, then 17 and a student at Centennial High School, claimed self-defense after an altercation under a rival team’s tent, but prosecutors argued he escalated the situation. The jury rejected the self-defense claim after less than three hours of deliberation.
The swift firing underscores the expectations for impartiality among those working in Texas corrections and parole systems. No further details on Robinson’s length of service or specific duties were released.
