Dallas Police say a man shot by an off-duty officer working outside of a club in Northwest Dallas was armed with a modified Glock.

Dallas Police Chief Danial Comeaux released body cam footage of the incident.

He says officers encountered the armed man who was fighting another person in the parking lot and the suspect then aimed the gun at the officer.

Officers shot the suspect, 23-year-old Brian Cruz-Campos, in the shoulder.

"Shots fired, shots fired!" called out Officer Keenan Anderson on body cam footage that was released.

"Cruz-Campos dropped the gun on the ground and then started reaching toward the gun," Chief Comeaux said. "Officers shot one more time and missed."

After a scuffle that included the officer repeatedly tasing Cruz-Campos, the suspect was taken to the hospital and released into police custody the following day.

He is charged with aggravated assault and evading arrest.
