A Dallas woman is the the county's first West Nile Virus case and her husband says it's going to be a long road to recovery.
Last week, Dallas County announced the first West Nile Virus case of the year and now we know it is Don Autry's wife Carol.
Autry tells NBC-5 the doctors say it could run two weeks to two months and there's no way to know for sure.
Carol Autry was on a ventilator but has since been removed.
The virus is transmitted through mosquito bites and mosquitoes seem to be prevalent because of our very wet spring and early summer.
In Dallas County this year, positive mosquito samples have been found in Dallas, Cedar Hill, Highland Park, University Park and Mesquite.
