The summer death of former Southlake Carroll baseball standout Nicco Cole has now been ruled an accidental overdose with a mixture of drugs including Para-fluorofentanyl which is a fentanyl-like drug which is believed to be manufactured by Mexican drug cartels and smuggled into the US.
In June, Cole was found dead at his Colleyville home. As a senior in 2018, Cole went 13-and-0 for Carroll, leading the Dragons to the Class 6A state baseball championship.
He then played for a year at Howard College near Midland before transferring to Cal State Fullerton where he planned to play in 2020 until the season was canceled because of the Coronavirus outbreak.
