Two north Texas school districts will keep their existing face mask mandates in place.

A federal appeals court his week allowed Governor Greg Abbott's executive order banning districts from adopting mask mandates to back into effect while a legal challenge to his authority makes its way through the court system.
Both the Dallas ISD and the Richardson ISD say that decision by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans won't affect their policies.
The Dallas ISD has a policy in place requiring people to wear face masks in all district buildings.
The Richardson ISD has a mask mandate in effect at its elementary schools. That policy is set to run through the end of the current semester on December 17th. The Richardson ISD had already announced it would not be in effect when classes resumed after the winter break in January.
