A Denton County fire chief has been arrested, accused by the feds of stealing money from his own firefighters' pension fund.
On Thursday FBI agents raided the Argyle headquarters of the Denton County Emergency Services District 1. Its fire chief, Troy Mac Hohenberger, was met by federal agents at DFW Airport when he returned from a trip to Las Vegas.
A former employee has filed a lawsuit accusing Hohenberger of mismanaging money meant for their 401(k) plan, claiming he also retaliated against the former employee when he asked questions about how the funds were being managed.
A statement from Denton County ESD #1 says emergency services provided by the ESD, "to our citizens remain unaffected. As always, our firefighters, paramedics and emergency medical technicians remain steadfast in their dedication to continuing to provide excellent service to our community."
