Authorities in the Denton County town of Providence Village are involved in a standoff with an armed man holding a woman hostage. Aubrey Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Johnson says they got a call from the suspect around 11:30pm Tuesday. He said he was armed and holding two women hostage.
The suspect released one hostage around 1:15am. After speaking with her, police called for the Denton County SWAT team. McKinney tactical teams are also on the scene along with officers from Prosper. Aubrey provides police services to Providence Village.
Authorities have moved in an armored "breach" vehicle and homes near the standoff have been evacuated.
