Denton County sees COVID-19 cases rise and ICU bed shortage

Health officials in Denton County say the number of new COVID-19 cases is continuing to go up. Health Director Dr. Matt Richardson says there are some signs that the trend could change in a few weeks.

"These cases, we're hoping are going to begin to plateau. The positivity rate in Texas is starting to plateau that's great news," Richardson said.

He says the county only has three ICU beds available and almost one-third of people in hospitals in Denton County are there because of COVID-19.

Today the county's reporting another 643 new cases.
