DENTON (1080 KRLD)- A man is being held in the City of Denton Jail on a charge of murder. Tommy Bays III, age 39, is accused of killing 44-year-old Melonie Frye earlier this year.
Frye's body was discovered in a shed outside a vacant home on Monterey Drive in Denton in January. Her death was later ruled a homicide.
Police say Bays was originally identified as a person of interest in the case. He previously had a relationship with Frye.
They named him as a suspect after tests showed that he was a major contributor of DNA found on evidence at the crime scene.
Investigators got a warrant for his arrest and he was taken into custody on Wednesday. Police say he's currently in custody and is charged with murder.
