A 19-year-old man is going to prison for decades in a Denton murder case.
Last year, a man identified as 24-year-old Curtis Stevenson was found murdered behind the Zebra's Head, a smoke shop about a block from the UNT campus.
Based on the facts of the investigation, detectives identified Anshawn Phiffer as the murder suspect. Phiffer, who was 17-years-old at the time, was taken into custody in Dallas by the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force, and transported to the City of Denton Jail.
Friday, Anshawn Pfiffer was convicted in the murder and Monday the same jury gave him 55 years. He has to serve half of that before he's even eligible for parole
