UPDATE: DENTON (1080 KRLD)- A man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping a woman Saturday in south Denton, and police say more charges could be on the way.

It happened around noon. Police say the woman was walking with her dog on Del Mar Court when 28-year-old Arique Bagby approached her, pulled out a gun, and told her to get in his car. She did, but was able to escape after a short distance with no injuries.

Two attempted abductions were reported in Corinth over the weekend as well, including one only 15 minutes before the kidnapping in Denton.

Police were able to track down Bagby's vehicle Sunday afternoon. He was initially arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

"Officers and detectives worked throughout the night," says Amy Cunningham, with the Denton Police Department. "After conducting interviews and reviewing available evidence, early this morning detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for aggravated kidnapping."

Cunningham says Bagby is thought to be behind the attempted kidnappings in Corinth as well, so he could rack up quite a few more charges. He's currently being held in the Denton County Jail.
