Police arrest a man named as the suspect in a Denton murder case. The shooting happened just after 2:00am Saturday on Oak Street near Fry Street, about a block from the UNT campus.
Officers who were called to the location found 24-year-old Curtis Stevenson. He had several gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital but died from his injuries.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage, collected evidence, spoke with witnesses and received some anonymous tips. They secured an arrest warrant for 17-year-old Anshawn Phiffer as the suspect in the case.
Phiffer was arrested on Monday in Dallas by the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force. He's being held in the City of Denton Jail with bond set at $1 million.
