A routine traffic stop in Tarrant County led to the discovery of a Molotov cocktail, authorities say.

A sheriff’s deputy pulled over a 27-year-old driver on Northwest Parkway in Azle after noticing suspicious behavior. During questioning, deputies found a makeshift explosive device in the vehicle.

The Fort Worth Fire Department Bomb Squad was called to the scene and safely rendered the device harmless. Officials have not disclosed what the driver, identified as Murphy Walls, intended to do with the weapon. He was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
