It may have been a mistake due to social media, but a Dallas County grand jury has handed up a murder indictment against a DeSoto man accused of killing a man he mistook for his brother's killer.
Police say they have never run across this before, a murder based on a false rumor on social media.
Police say 22-year old Norman Collier of DeSoto will face trial for felony murder for the shooting death of 20-year old Kolby Graham.
Graham was shot three days after Collier's younger brother was killed in what police say was a robbery. They say somehow, Graham's name was put out on social media as the killer. Police say he wasn't.
But at a balloon release in honor of murder victim Camran Collier, court records say Norman walked up behind Graham and shot him. He died several days later.
Normal Collier was indicted for felony murder and is being held on $1 million bond.
