Customs and Border Protection is adding biometric facial recognition scanners at international entry points at DFW International Airport and Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Travelers who register in advance for CPB's Global Entry program will be able to use those scanners to speed up the process of exiting the airport once they arrive in the U.S.

"We're very pleased to have both DFW and IAH Airports come on board to enhance our Global Entry Arrival process," said Judson W. Murdock II, CBP Director of Field Operations, Houston. "This enhancement will allow us to streamline the arrival process for Global Entry members by continuing to reduce the time in the arrivals line for thousands of eligible travelers entering the United States."

The Global Entry program allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers arriving in the United States. Travelers can scan their passports and fingerprints at automated kiosks, which will then print a receipt and direct them to baggage claim and the exit.

The new facial recognition scanners will further streamline that process. Travelers will not get a paper receipt. Officials with CPB say the option for contactless processing will lead to a reduced environmental footprint.

Travelers in the Global Entry program will have the option to begin using the biometric facial scanners at DFW and IAH on July 26th.
