Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is installing dedicated foot-washing stations, known as ablution or wudu stations, in existing restrooms in Terminal D. The privately funded project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
According to documents filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the work will add one men’s ablution station and one women’s ablution station to concourse-level restrooms in Terminal D. Construction is scheduled to begin August 31 and finish by December 31. The estimated cost is $300,000, and the project is listed as privately funded.
The stations are intended to provide a dedicated space for ritual washing before prayer and to reduce water on restroom floors and sinks that can occur when travelers use standard fixtures for the same purpose. Similar low-level basins already operate at other major U.S. airports, including facilities at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport and Chicago O’Hare.

Terminal D handles many of DFW’s international flights. The airport already maintains interfaith chapels in each of its five terminals that are open for prayer and reflection by travelers of all faiths. Some of those spaces include related amenities.
The project was registered with state regulators on July 31 under number TABS2026026706. Airport officials have not issued a public statement beyond the formal registration details.
The installation remains limited to Terminal D under the current plans. No injuries or other incidents are associated with the project, which is still in the pre-construction phase.
