Construction crews have completed a major rehabilitation project on one of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport's largest runways ahead of schedule, airport officials say.
The project focused on Runway 17R/35L, which spans more than 13,000 feet. Crews carried out a full reconstruction of the runway, including upgrades to drainage systems, lighting, and de-icing equipment.
A portion of the project’s cost was covered by a $45 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). According to officials, the rehabilitation was the largest in the airport’s history.
The runway is now fully operational following the early completion.
