Dallas (1080 KRLD) - Both Dallas Love Field and Dallas-Fort Worth airports are seeing record numbers of travelers today as people who took to the friendly skies to get away for the holiday return home.
The summer is already shaping up to be a difficult one for air travelers. Customers are struggling with thousands of delays and hundreds of canceled flights this month because of computer problems, staffing shortages and bad weather.
CBS News Travel Editor Peter Greenberg has a travel tip on when you get to the security checkpoint; "It's not the length of the line that matters, it's how many TSA agents are watching the computer monitors by the conveyor belt."
"If you see one agent monitoring that computer, I don't care how long the line is, pick that line. Because If you see two agents monitoring it, that means they're training one of those agents, and each of those bags is going to be stopped for at least a minute and a half to two minutes."
The TSA is in the process of hiring 6,000 agents. Traffic congestion is expected to double on the roadways today as well as drivers return home.
