Preparations are underway to give Afghan refugees, soon to be coming to North Texas, a helping hand.

On Saturday a donation drive was held to gather the items that they'll need, to adjust to their new life here.

Our partners at NBC 5 told us that the non-profit, "Afghan Unity DFW" hosted the donation drive in Richardson. Cars were able to drive in and drop off all kinds of furnishings and clothing.

It's estimated that 1,000 to 2,000 Afghan refugees could be coming to North Texas in the coming months.

"Afghan Unity DFW" has worked with refugees for the past 11 years offering all kinds of different services.
