Real estate is booming in DFW as the price to buy a new home continues to rise. However, potential homebuyers could always look for a home that needs some work, and thanks to the countless DIY-themed home improvement shows currently on television, everyone thinks they are ready to tackle a fixer-upper. Luckily for those people, a new study ranked DFW as the 7th best city in the country to buy a fixer-upper home.

StorageCafe recently unveiled their list of the best cities in the country to buy a fixer upper home. To determine the rankings, their study compared 50 of the biggest cities in the nation on which were the best and worst for fixer-upper homes. Based on the numbers, the study ranked DFW 7th best in the country, according to CW33.

North Texas earned such a high ranking thanks to fixer uppers accounting for about 9% of the existing homes for sale in the area, are an average of 24% smaller than standard homes and hefty savings compared to other cities. Milwaukee took the top spot on the list for the entire country. With home prices continuing to rise, a fixer-upper may be the best option for potential buyers in DFW.
