NBA Hall of Famer and Dallas Mavericks great Dirk Nowitzki helped load a thousand Thanksgiving dinners into people's cars this morning at a giveaway in South Dallas.
Nowitzki, along with volunteers from the Dallas Police Department and DPS troopers, worked in the rain early Thursday morning to distribute turkeys, side dishes, and blankets into waiting cars for the Thanksgiving holiday.
“We really appreciate him. It’s such a blessing,” said one family waiting in line.
The Nowitzki Foundation paid for the meals and Dirk was one of many doing the hard work, having cars pop their trunk and he'd load the turkeys and side dishes in.
Nowitzki says this was his biggest food drive ever.
