Travelers at DFW International Airport will have the opportunity to taste some of the favorite dishes of Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki next year. He's working with the D&B Mitchell Group to open a new restaurant at Terminal C. The DFW Airport Board has just approved the deal.
"He's going to open up a bar and restaurant in DFW next year, so we're really looking forward to that," said DFW Airport CEO Sean Donohue.
The restaurant will feature decorations and memorabilia of Nowitzki's 21 years with the Dallas Mavericks, along with some virtual reality components that allow visitors to get a picture with Nowitzki.
The menu will feature international dishes, including chicken schnitzel, which Dirk describes as "a nod to my homeland" of Germany.
The DFW Airport Board also approved several other new concessionaires during its meeting. One of those is a new convenience store that will partner with the Dallas homeless shelter called "The Bridge". A portion of the sales at the store will go to "The Bridge" and some employees will come from the shelter's job training program.
