Six Dallas firefighters are being evaluated after experiencing breathing issues while fighting a blaze in Northwest Dallas on Friday afternoon, officials say.

The incident happened at 11:02 a.m. in the 3500 block of Durango Drive, just north of Dallas Love Field, Dallas-Fire Rescue said.

Officials said the call started as a one-alarm fire, but responding crews noticed a change in the color of the smoke, as well as a change in odor. Command ordered all crews out of the house.

Dozens of units, including five hazmat crews, responded to the blaze. After the investigation, crews found that an unlabeled container, suspected to be chlorine, caught on fire, Dallas Fire-Rescue said.

Six firefighters were taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital for evaluation after they experienced breathing issues.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
