Some doctor’s offices in Texas are full but not because of COVID.

With kids heading back to school this month, pediatricians are getting booked with well-child visits. These are important to make sure your child stays up to date on vaccines. Recently, there have been cases of measles, mumps, and even polio across the nation due to a lack of immunizations.

Dr. Tracy Wang, a pediatrician with North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville, says these are very dangerous diseases that can have life-altering consequences.

"Some kids can have really bad complications like meningitis, with polio you can become paralyzed," Dr. Wang said.

Benchmark vaccines for school are at ages 4 and 11 then there are some at 16.
