DUNCANVILLE (1080 KRLD)- The Duncanville ISD is giving away thousands of free books today in preparation of a districtwide reading event, “Read Across the ‘Ville.”
“We were able to acquire 3,000 books to give away to students, families and community members through the generosity of library services,” says Kristi Mullins, with the district. “As well as the finagling of some of our ELAR (English Language Arts and Reading) budget for this year.”
The books are being given out this evening at Duncanville High School from 4 - 7 p.m. You don’t even have to get out of your car, Mullins says, you just have to drive through and let volunteers know what kind of book your student is in the market for.
Mullins says books ranging in ages from Pre-K to 12th grade are being given out. If you aren’t part of the Duncanville ISD, Mullins says you can still swing by. If there are extra books available, she says you can take one home for free.
The book pickup will take place rain or shine.
