Early voting opens this morning across North Texas ahead of the November 4 election, giving voters the chance to weigh in on 17 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution as well as local bond measures and city races.

Statewide, the ballot includes proposals affecting property taxes, infrastructure funding, and education. One of the most closely watched amendments would raise the homestead exemption on school property taxes from $100,000 to $140,000 for most homeowners, while another would increase exemptions for seniors and Texans with disabilities. Other measures involve funding for state colleges, water projects, and broadband expansion.

Local ballots across North Texas also feature bond packages and municipal elections. In Dallas County, voters are considering measures related to public safety and infrastructure, while nearby cities such as Arlington, Plano, and Frisco have school and city bond questions on the ballot.

Election officials are reminding voters to review their sample ballots in advance, since the number of items may make the process take longer than usual. Early voting runs through Friday, October 31, and voters must bring an approved photo ID to cast their ballot.

More details on polling locations and sample ballots are available through county election offices and at VoteTexas.gov.
