Early voting begins today for the November 7th election

Today is the first day of early voting ahead of the November 7th election.

Texans will decide the fate of 14 constitutional amendments approved for the ballot by state lawmakers. Several address taxes by:

1. Raising the homestead exemption for homeowners from $40,000 to $100,000

2. Creating some tax exemptions for medical equipment and child-care facilities

3. Banning lawmakers from imposing so-called Wealth Taxes without voter approval.

Other proposed amendments would create or funds to support:

* Maintenance and creation of state parks
* Gas-fueled power plants
* Higher education research
* Water infrastructure
* Broadband infrastructure

And one amendment will grant retired teachers cost-of-living raises.
