The killer of a retired TCU professor will not be executed next week as scheduled.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has granted a request from lawyers for Edward Lee Busby who claim their client is too intellectually disabled to be executed under a 2002 US Supreme Court decision.
Busby was sent to Death Row for the 2004 murder of Laura Lee Crane who was 77-years-old when she was abducted in Fort Worth. Her body was later found dumped in Oklahoma.
Busby's girlfriend is serving a life sentence in Gatesville for her role in the crime.
