
"A number" of exotic animals were killed in a fire at a Northwest Dallas shopping center on Friday morning, fire officials say.
The blaze started before 11 a.m. at Plaza Latina in the 11200 block of Harry Hines Boulevard, Dallas-Fire Rescue said.
Officials said 40-45 firefighters responded to the scene and used hand lines and three ladder piples to surrounded the fire. It was declared extinguished at 11:03 a.m.
Part of the roof of the shopping center collapsed, including over a business that sells exotic animals, fire officials said. "A number of" the animals died. Dallas Animal Control was called out for that part of the investigation.
No injuries to people were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation Friday afternoon.
