Dallas (1080 KRLD) - Dallas County officials will visit Fair Park in Dallas today to mark another milestone for the COVID-19 mass vaccination clinic there. Staffers will administer their 500,000th dose of the vaccine today.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins and Health Director Dr. Philip Huang will celebrate the event with a special ceremony at 10:30 a.m.

The mass-vaccination clinic was opened in January and had delivered 400,000 vaccine doses to the community before it was closed in mid-July. It was re-opened a few weeks later as the number of COVID-19 cases surged because of the Delta variant.

Dallas County has also operated "pop-up" clinics at other locations as part of the effort to get the vaccine to as many people as possible.
