Attorneys representing victims in an ongoing civil case against Celina ISD and former teacher and coach Caleb Elliott are filing a new lawsuit on behalf of 17 additional students, bringing the number of civil suits against the district to at least four.

The latest lawsuit alleges the district ignored repeated warning signs about Elliott’s behavior and continued to allow him unsupervised access to students.

According to the filing, Elliott had an improper relationship with a high school student before he was transferred to Moore Middle School. Instead of reporting the allegation to law enforcement or state authorities, the district moved him into a role supervising even younger students, the attorneys said in a news release.

Elliott, a former Moore Middle School teacher and football coach, is facing state and federal charges accusing him of secretly photographing and recording boys in the locker room while they changed clothes.

Celina police said last week they have identified 39 victims and expect that number to grow as the investigation continues.
