The family of one of the top high school football players in the country has had enough and is moving away after a racist attack on their home.

We don’t need you here" was the message the Hawkins family woke up to find scrawled on their garage door just a few days after Christmas. The vandals also wrote other racist slurs on the family’s home before fleeing.

Former NFL player Mike Hawkins says his family believes they were targeted after listing their house for sale. Originally, they say the plan was to move to a different house in the city. But after the vandalism, they’re leaving the suburb they've lived in since 2011 altogether.

Hawkins says his son started getting racist messages online after becoming the high school team's quarterback. With the most recent incident, they unenrolled both of their sons.

That now means that Allen High School is losing two football players, including its star quarterback. Mike Hawkins Jr is one of the country’s top high school football recruits for the class of 2024. His younger brother Maliek is only a sophomore and was already starting for the varsity team.

The family says they don’t feel safe in Allen anymore, so they’re leaving and moving to an undisclosed location.
