Family members and attorneys for one of the detainees who was killed in last week's ICE facility sniper attack in Dallas are describing the last few moments before the gunfire erupted.

Attorney Phillip Hall says they want the public to know of the integrity of Miguel Angel Garcia who was originally wounded in the attack but died earlier this week.

"We have not got official reports about what happened," Phillip Hall, a criminal defense attorney, said. "What we have learned is that Miguel received, I believe, upwards of eight gunshot wounds."

Garcia is credited with shielding another person in the detention van that was shot into.

Garcia's wife Stephanie is about to give birth to their fifth child.

"It makes me feel really proud of him," she said. "Like I always said, he was the type of person that, you know, thought of others before himself."

Another attorney said a survivor who was with Garcia is crediting his life to Garcia.

Garcia is the second detainee to have died. Another was critically wounded.

The FBI says the gunman was targeted ICE agents before taking his own life.
