The FBI in Dallas has made an arrest after weeks of searching for a man suspected in two bank robberies this month. Because of his clothing, they called him the "Derby Desperado."
Authorities arrested 40-year-old Justin Lee Chambers in Grapevine around 10 a.m. Monday, July 29th. He is being charged in connection to the July 12th robbery of the bank on Forest Lane.
The first robbery happened at a credit union on Telecom Parkway in Garland on July 3. The second occurred at a bank on Forest Lane in Dallas on July 12. In both cases, the man passed a note to the teller demanding money and then fled the scene in an SUV.
The suspect was described as a white male with green eyes, between 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a surgical face mask and surgical gloves.
The FBI said that in both cases, the man was wearing a dark suit, a white shirt, a tie, and a light fedora-style hat. That's why they gave him the nickname "the Derby Desperado."
