A FedEx driver has died after his 18-wheeler crashed in North Dallas Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say the FedEx truck was heading east on I-635 when it crashed near Preston Road. The unidentified driver was killed on impact.
The big trailer split open, spilling its cargo over a wide area. The rig's saddle tanks also leaked diesel over the crash scene, forcing Dallas firefighters to spread absorbent over the spill.
The east-bound lanes were closed until about 2:30 a.m. Thursday to allow for the cleanup and investigation.
