Last night's fire at Tarrant County College's Northwest Campus has damaged an under-construction building near Marine Creek Lake.

Officials say firefighters from Fort Worth, Lake Worth and River Oaks worked together to douse the flames which were already through the roof on one corner of the two-story building when crews arrived.

Firefighters arrived to find dense, black and gray smoke, blowing over the whole campus. Students and staff in neighboring buildings were chased out by blaring recorded fire announcements.

The source of the smoke was quickly found and firefighters started to pour on the water, using their tallest ladders to reach the top of the building.

Commanders say most of the damage was confined to wood planking and roofing materials and that fast cooperation of the three agencies kept the fire from spreading to other buildings on campus.
