A firefighter was rushed to the hospital from a fire scene in McKinney early Tuesday morning.

McKinney Fire officials say the fire broke out just before 1:30 a.m. at an upholstery business on North Kentucky Street a few blocks west of Highway 5. The fire also spread to two nearby homes.

The business was closed and no one was inside but there were residents in the homes. They all made it out safely.

Officials say one firefighter was treated at ths hospital for what commanders describe as "minor injuries." The fire was out within an hour but fire crews remained on scene the rest of the morning to keep an eye out for hot spots.
