Fire crews in Lewisville spent the morning battling a three-alarm fire that started in a backyard shed and quickly spread to neighboring houses.

Matt Martucci, spokesperson for the City of Lewisville, says the fire started around 7 a.m. in the 700 block of Blair Drive.

"It was actually a shed that was about ten feet from the original house," Martucci says. "Shortly thereafter, the fire in the shed moved over to the main house and both structures were on fire. Eventually, that fire spread to the neighboring house. A third alarm was called for manpower to come put [that one] out."

Lewisville fire crews had to get help from Carrollton, The Colony and other neighboring cities to get the massive fire under control.

The people inside the first house were able to escape safely, without any injuries. Nobody was in the second house.

Martucci says the fire was fully extinguished around 9 a.m. There is no word yet on what caused it.
