A Collin County grand jury has indicted a McKinney man for trying to run over a couple, then assaulting a police officer.
McKinney Police say on June 23rd, an unidentified couple was out walking in a McKinney neighborhood when a pickup truck came speeding through.
Police reports say the couple that was walking yelled at the driver to slow down because there were children in the area. But instead of slowing down, police say 21-year old Brandon Williams did a U-turn, drove into yards and tried to run over the couple. Both dove for cover.
Police stopped Williams but a department spokeswoman says instead of complying, Williams punched the officer in the nose then spit on him.
A grand jury indicted Williams for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one charge of assaulting a police officer, another count of harassment and one charge of obstruction.
