Dallas is finally getting its own IKEA. The Swedish home furnishings giant will open its first location inside Dallas city limits on Wednesday, March 11, bringing a two-level, urban-format store to The Shops at Park Lane - and yes, the meatballs are coming too.

IKEA Dallas - University Park will open at 8080 Park Ln., at the intersection of US-75 and Park Lane, directly across from NorthPark Center. The grand opening kicks off with giveaways, coffee, and cinnamon buns at 8 a.m., VIP remarks at 9 a.m., and doors opening to the general public at 10 a.m.

The 63,000-square-foot, two-level store is the eighth IKEA in Texas and the first of three new Texas locations the company plans to open in 2026. Two additional stores - one in Rockwall and one in Webster near Houston - are expected to follow later this year.

At roughly one-fifth the size of the Frisco location, the Park Lane store is part of IKEA's push toward smaller urban formats. IKEA U.S. CEO Javier Quiñones called the Dallas opening "a perfect example of our strategy to develop smaller, more accessible urban store formats." About 3,200 items will be stocked for same-day takeaway, with 2,200 on display in signature IKEA room settings. Because there is no self-serve warehouse, larger furniture pieces can be ordered for home delivery or free in-store pickup. The store will also feature an As-Is Department with gently used and discontinued items for budget-conscious shoppers.

"We're excited to celebrate the grand opening of IKEA Dallas - University Park and share the IKEA experience with members of the Dallas community," said IKEA U.S. Market Manager Ben Sandoval. "From finding inspiration for your dream space to enjoying a taste of Sweden, we can't wait for you to experience the joy of making yourself at home at IKEA Dallas - University Park."

The store sits on the second level of The Shops at Park Lane, across from Old Navy and next to American Girl, Champs, and Nordstrom Rack. IKEA also has full-sized locations in Grand Prairie and Frisco.

Ward Kampf, president of Northwood Retail, which owns The Shops at Park Lane, said IKEA "will be a gamechanger" for the center, noting its proximity to SMU, The Village Dallas, and Uptown.

The store is accessible via DART and offers free parking. Hours will be Monday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
