Ending a nine-year American League winning streak, the National League won last night's All-Star Game in Seattle 3-2.
In the bottom of the 9th, the American league had the tying and winning runs on base but the Phillies' Craig Kimbrel struck out Cleveland's Jose Ramirez to end the game.
The National league took their only lead of the game in the top of the 8th on a two-run Elias Diaz homer. In his first All-Star Game, the Rockies catcher was named the game's MVP.
The five Texas Rangers in the starting line-up were 0-9. Texas had five players in the starting batting order including Jonah Heim, Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, Josh Jung and Adolis Garcia. Combined, they had nine at-bats without a hit.
On the other hand, the Texans shined with the leather. Garcia made two superlative catches in right field and Heim threw out the Marlins' Luis Arraez trying to steal second.
When Alvin, Texas native Nathan Eovaldi took the mound for the American League in the second inning, the Rangers had six players on the field simultaneously. That's only happened twice before in All-Star Game history. The only other teams were the 1939 Yankees and the 1951 Brooklyn Dodgers.
Eovaldi pitched a scoreless frame, giving up two hits. By the way, next year the Rangers will host the 2024 Mid-Summer Classic at Globe Life Field.
The MLB All-Star Game has not been played in Arlington since 1995, the second year for the Rangers' previous home which was then called The Ballpark In Arlington.
