Flood warning issued for large area of North Texas

According to the National Weather Service Fort Worth office, excessive rains in the area will cause periods of flash flooding Sunday through Monday morning.

“Never drive through water running over a road,” warned the agency. “Be willing to turn around and find a different route to your destination.”

It only takes 3 inches of running water over a road to wash a truck off the road. There is a chance that Texas will get 2 to 5 inches and some parts of North Texas could get more than 8 inches of rain and there is a flood watch in effect along and north of I-20.

The National Weather Service recommends that commuters who expect to be in these areas plan ahead. Conditions are expected to be at their worst Sunday night and Monday,
