Barr and other Forest Hill officers found Ross in a creek at the bottom of an embankment near the QuikTrip on Wichita St. after he had stabbed a woman to death.

Ross was holding a knife and had refused officers' orders to drop it.

The investigation showed that although a sergeant asked Barr to fire his less-than-lethal shotgun at Ross to get him to drop the knife, Barr fired off his actual shotgun instead, killing him.

Barr now faces five to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

It's unclear whether Barr is still with the force.
