Former Colleyville Heritage High School principal James Whitfield has changed his mind about running for the State Board of Education.
Two weeks ago, Whitfield filed to run for the District 11 seat which includes parts of Dallas, Tarrant and Parker counties. Now, however, Whitfield's Facebook page confirms that "upon further reflection, I've decided not to run for public office at this time."
As reported, I filed for the State Board of Education - District 11 seat on December 13th. Those who know me, know that...

Last month, Whitfield resigned from the Colleyville Heritage job and his resignation was accepted by the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD school board. His tenure as principal was a maelstrom of controversy over racial issues like critical race theory and his supporters insisted he was pressured into resigning because of social media photos showing Whitfield kissing his wife. He's Black and his wife is white.
The district said the pictures were inappropriate for a school administrator.
The district also says the issues over Whitfield's employment were not racial but administrative. For example, he was accused of being dishonest with the media and of deleting e-mails as a public record.
