Former Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall is defending her decision to take no action against officer Bryan Riser who is now facing multiple capital murder charges.
In a written statement, retired former Police Chief Hall says "DPS Special Investigations Unit, in collaboration with the FBI, recommended not placing Riser on Administrative Leave. Taking that action could have compromised the investigation."
She goes on to say "if Riser had known he was a person-of-interest, DPD might not have been able to bring justice to the families today, and that's the most important thing."
Dallas police said Officer Bryan Riser, a veteran of the force since 2008, was arrested Thursday morning.
