A former youth minister from Denton has been sentenced to nearly 3-years in federal prison for sexually assaulting two young girls.
Federal court records show former Denton Bible Church youth pastor, 50-year old Robert Shiflet will be locked up for 33 months for molesting two underage girls during church sponsored trips.
According to court records, one of those trips was from Denton to a campsite in Arkansas in the mid 90's. The second was on a trip to Florida when Shiflet was a pastor in Little Rock in the early 2000's.
The US Attorney's office in Little Rock says in both cases Shiflet was able to isolate the girls from others.
The former minister pleaded guilty last November. He could have gotten 15-years.
